P-16 councils in Ohio

With the support of KnowledgeWorks Foundation and other advocates, the P-16 approach to improving education has gained a strong foothold in Ohio. The Ohio Partnership for Continued Learning, a statewide P-16 council launched in 2005, now works with 22 communities across the state that are taking the steps to smooth education transitions for their students.

Strive

A P-16 effort in the Cincinnati area, Strive is bringing the community together in an unprecedented partnership for public education. Strive is engaging communities in education on a whole new level. Founded in 2006 by KnowledgeWorks, the Strive partnership spans all sectors of the community, working to help each child in Cincinnati’s urban core succeed from birth through some form of college into a meaningful career. Strive is uniting common providers around shared issues, goals, measurements and results, and then actively supporting and strengthening strategies that are effective. Its work is focused on home, school and community: the building blocks for successful students, productive citizens and thriving cities. Strive also is working with Living Cities, a coalition of large foundations and financial institutions, to help other communities replicate its successful model.
