Putting Ohio's new plan into action

Ohio is in transition as its new school funding model is being put into place.

To help school leaders during the transition, the Ohio Department of Education has created an online tool to simulate state and district funding.

Funding under the Ohio Evidence-Based Model formula will be calculated by the PASS (Pathway to Student Success) form, which is expected to be ready in October.  Until then, state payments are being based on approximated data. For instance, enrollment is calculated as a projected enrollment for 2010-11. Once the official headcount is taken in the first full week of October, the formula will be updated with new data and the remaining payments will be adjusted accordingly. Similarly, as other data elements become available, they will be incorporated into the final PASS Form.

More details on how the model is being implemented will be provided as the school year proceeds.
